Elton Amos, M.D., MPH

Medical Director

Dr. Elton Amos serves as the Medical Director at The Ship Group Services, bringing a unique combination of medical expertise and public health leadership. In addition to his role at The Ship Group, Dr. Amos is a Medical Director with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, where he oversees healthcare delivery for vulnerable populations within the correctional system. His extensive experience in both clinical and public health settings allows him to ensure the highest standards of care within complex and regulated environments.

Dr. Amos holds both a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and a Master of Public Health (MPH), enhancing his ability to address healthcare challenges from both a medical and a broader population health perspective. He is also board-certified by the American Academy of Family Practice and has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as the State Medical Director for the Indiana Department of Correction. Fluent in German and Spanish, Dr. Amos is skilled at providing culturally competent care to diverse patient populations.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Amos is a dedicated pastor, leading congregations and balancing his commitment to medicine with his passion for ministry. He has also founded and directed recovery programs such as the VICTORS House of Fort Wayne and the 21st Century VICTORS Program, which focus on supporting individuals in overcoming addiction and rebuilding their lives.

With his M.D. and MPH degrees, along with decades of clinical leadership, Dr. Amos plays a critical role in shaping the medical and public health standards at The Ship Group Services. His deep commitment to compassionate care and strong leadership ensures that the organization delivers exceptional services to all of its clients.
