Angenette Burns, LMHC
Angenette Burns is a Licensed Counselor in multiple states as well as a Self-Worth Coach. She is located in Charlotte, NC. Angenette is passionate about helping clients regain a sense of self-worth and self-esteem after going through difficult, demoralizing situations. Often, her clients want to feel empowered again after experiencing racism, workplace trauma, toxic relationships, and other situations that make them feel powerless, small, muted, and ashamed. Angenette especially enjoys working with women and people of color who are looking for support and intentionality as they go through their daily lives and face their challenges.
Angenette’s style is down-to-earth and engaging. She enjoys using humor in her sessions to connect with her clients and build rapport. She uses Motivational Interviewing techniques to help clients assess their readiness for change, encouraging them to make healthy changes in their lives when they’re willing to start their healing journey. She also coaches them by setting goals for themselves and finding the right steps to reach those goals. Clients learn how to avoid emotional triggers and overcome feelings of unworthiness. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), clients begin to challenge the voice in their heads that tell them that they aren’t competent, beautiful, or loved. They develop boundaries for themselves and others that demand the respect that they deserve.
Angenette earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has nearly ten years of experience working with clients and enjoys bringing her warm and energetic personality into the therapeutic relationship. She provides culturally responsive treatment for clients of all identities, preferences, and backgrounds.
