Frequently Asked Questions

Starting care should not feel complicated. These are short answers to the questions clients and families ask most often.

Starting Care

I do not know which TSG service I need. What should I do?

That is okay. Complete our short Request Care form or call/text 704-553-5392. Tell us what is going on in your own words. Our intake team will help determine the right next step.

What happens after I submit the website request form?

A TSG intake specialist will contact you. We will complete a brief intake screening, review insurance or payment information, explain any program requirements, send the full intake/consent packet, and schedule the appropriate clinical next step when your record is ready.

Is the website request form my full intake?

No. It is a short lead and contact request. It does not create an appointment and it is not consent to treatment. You will still complete the required intake screening and integrated intake/consent packet.

What is a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA)?

A CCA is a behavioral-health clinical assessment. It looks at symptoms, history, strengths, safety, daily functioning, diagnosis, and service needs. The clinician uses the assessment to recommend an appropriate level of care. A CCA does not guarantee approval for a specific service.

Integrated Care

Can I receive medical and behavioral health care through TSG?

Yes, when those services are appropriate and available. TSG uses an integrated care model that can connect medical care, behavioral health, recovery services, medication support, and community-based services. You may receive one service or several services depending on your needs.

What is Collaborative Care (CoCM)?

Collaborative Care is a structured program for eligible clients in which a treating medical provider works with a Behavioral Health Care Manager and a psychiatric consultant. The care manager may check in between visits and track symptoms and goals. The psychiatric consultant may review the case and make recommendations without becoming your regular provider. Not every client is enrolled in CoCM.

Do you serve North Carolina and South Carolina?

TSG serves clients across North Carolina and South Carolina through telehealth and other service models where the service, payer, and provider licensure allow it. Some programs are state-specific and some require in-person care.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, many services can be provided by secure video or other approved telehealth methods when clinically appropriate and legally permitted. Your provider may require in-person, urgent, emergency, or specialty care when telehealth is not enough.

Appointments, Portal & Insurance

How do I schedule an appointment?

New clients are scheduled after the intake record is reviewed and the required next step is identified. A requested date is not final until TSG confirms it. Existing clients may use the SimplePractice Client Portal when appointment requests are enabled or call/text 704-553-5392.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Call or text 704-553-5392 as soon as you know you cannot attend. Whenever possible, contact us at least 24 hours before the appointment. You may also send a secure SimplePractice portal message. A request is complete when TSG confirms the cancellation or new appointment.

How do I log into SimplePractice?

Use the secure Client Portal link sent by TSG. Choose the existing-client option, enter the email address TSG has on file, and request the one-time sign-in link. Open the email to enter the portal. If you cannot access the portal or changed your email, call or text 704-553-5392.

What insurance do you accept?

Coverage depends on the service, state, network, plan, eligibility, and authorization requirements. TSG works with Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare Advantage, commercial insurance, and self-pay arrangements for applicable services. Our team verifies the specific payer and benefit before relying on coverage.

Why might authorization or reauthorization be required?

Some services require approval from Medicaid, an MCO, Medicare Advantage plan, commercial insurer, care manager, or another payer before the service starts or continues. Clinical updates such as a new assessment, treatment plan, service order, or progress review may also be required.

Why do I need to sign forms again every year?

TSG requires active clients to complete an annual consent and information update at least every 12 months. This keeps consent, rights, privacy, telehealth, emergency contacts, insurance/payment information, and release preferences current.

What happens if I miss appointments?

Repeated missed appointments can interrupt treatment and may trigger a service review. A $50 missed-appointment or late-cancellation fee may apply when permitted by law and the payer; Medicaid members are not charged a missed-appointment fee. Three missed appointments or late cancellations within 90 days may result in a review and possible discharge when clinically appropriate and permitted by program and payer rules.

Special Programs, Records & Help

Do you provide DWI assessments and treatment?

TSG provides authorized North Carolina DWI assessment, education, and treatment services. The DWI process has additional court, DMV, assessment, payment, attendance, and completion-reporting requirements.

Do you offer classes and workshops?

Yes. Offerings may include anger management, domestic violence intervention, life skills, recovery and substance-use education, mental wellness, legal literacy, professional training, and other approved programs. Each program has its own registration, fee, attendance, and completion requirements.

How do I request my records?

Use the Request Medical Records link in the Rights & Records section of the website footer or call 704-553-5392 for help. A valid authorization may be required when records are sent to someone other than you.
