DWI Assessments, Education & Treatment

North Carolina requires people with a DWI conviction to obtain a substance-use assessment and complete the recommended education or treatment. TSGBH provides confidential assessment, recommendations and approved follow-up services, including telehealth when permitted.

How This Service Can Help

Care is individualized. Your assessment and treatment plan determine the goals, frequency and services that are appropriate for you.

DWI Assessment

A structured substance-use assessment that reviews the charge, driving history, test results, substance-use pattern and clinical needs.

Education or Treatment

The recommendation may include an education program or a treatment level based on North Carolina requirements and the assessment findings.

Completion Documentation

Required information is reported through the applicable state process after attendance, payment and program requirements are completed.

Prepare for Your Assessment

  • A copy of the citation, court paperwork or official driving record when requested
  • Breath or blood-test results and the date of the offense
  • Photo identification and reliable contact information
  • Payment and any records from prior DWI education or treatment

Telehealth & Scheduling

Assessments and eligible education or treatment sessions may be available by secure telehealth for North Carolina cases. Intake will confirm identity, technology, payment and whether telehealth is permitted for your circumstances.

Eligibility, Coverage & Scheduling

DWI services follow state requirements and are generally paid directly by the participant. The assessment determines the recommended intervention. Additional legal, court or Division of Motor Vehicles requirements may apply.
