Nakeem Nicholas serves as Executive Director of The Ship Group Behavioral Health & Community Services (TSGBH), providing executive leadership across the agency’s behavioral health programs, community-based services, and administrative operations. He is responsible for strengthening organizational performance, advancing program accountability, supporting regulatory and payer readiness, and ensuring that services remain responsive, person-centered, and aligned with the needs of the individuals and communities TSGBH serves.
Nakeem brings extensive experience spanning frontline service delivery, program supervision, workforce leadership, and agency operations. He began his tenure with TSGBH as Peer Support Services Supervisor and later advanced to Operations Manager, assuming progressively broader responsibility for the agency’s programs, employees, systems, and daily performance. His leadership experience includes program oversight, staff development, client access, quality improvement, compliance preparation, operational planning, interdepartmental coordination, and the implementation of systems that support continuity and quality of care.
Through his work across the agency’s major operational and programmatic functions, Nakeem has developed a comprehensive understanding of both service delivery and organizational management. His leadership approach emphasizes clear expectations, professional accountability, practical problem-solving, and strong communication among employees, clinical teams, managed care organizations, referral sources, and community partners.
His behavioral health experience includes serving as a Qualified Professional, Certified Peer Support Specialist, Peer Support Services Supervisor, and Operations Manager. These roles have provided him with direct knowledge of community-based care, service and documentation standards, employee supervision, program implementation, and the importance of building trust with clients, families, payers, and community stakeholders.
Before joining TSGBH, Nakeem gained experience in a high-volume, performance-driven corporate environment, where he developed a strong foundation in process management, team coordination, operational efficiency, and performance accountability. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is pursuing a Master of Social Work, further strengthening his expertise in behavioral health systems, social-service leadership, ethical practice, and community impact.
